NORTHERN ONTARIO PARANORMAL RESEARCHERS Website

Who We Are & How We Work

We are a volunteer team of paranormal investigators, based in the Sudbury area of Northern Ontario. Our goal is to carefully document paranormal activity of all kinds. To do so we must first eliminate all known causes of the event before we seek paranormal explanations. Then we use both low tech and high tech equipment to document and substantiate our experiences. We are serious, professionally-minded adults from all walks of life who welcome healthy skepticism. It is our sincere belief that all events have a scientific explanation - keeping in mind that throughout history much of which was yesterday’s science-fiction has become today’s science.

There are  members of N.O.P.R. who are professional psychics. N.O.P.R. realizes that to preclude psychics from our investigations may be robbing us of a very valuable source of information. Respected psychics will be among the first to tell you that everyone has the ability, and like any skill, it is refined and strengthened with use and practice. If this is indeed the case, then it becomes absolutely impossible to exclude "psychics" from an investigation. Our initial dilemma was how to maintain provable credibility while still availing ourselves of those who would seem to be specialists in the field of the paranormal.

To solve this issue we incorporate "psychic" research into the investigations in such a way as to eliminate it influencing the initial investigation while still being available. By doing parallel investigations ( physical and psychic) we think we have found a way to balance the two.

Whenever possible, only the lead investigator knows specific details. . Each member of the team will keep a careful record of any and all events that they experience, including emotions, thoughts, feelings, and/or physical or psychic sensations that they experience during the investigation. They will do so without sharing or consulting with each other. (Ever mindful of Philip) Members can freely express where and how equipment be focused but are asked not to discuss their reasons for doing so during the investigation. All final decisions are the responsibility of the lead investigator. Once the investigation is concluded and the information gathered is analyzed, the completed notes will be incorporated into the results.

These results will be shared in our research section but names will be withheld. That way all members share and grow equally and no one needs to "prove" themselves or feel like they are being tested. This also eliminates any accusations of our professional psychics trying to promote themselves. If several members independently sense a direction or ‘‘something’’ we overlooked that should be examined more closely, we can then do more investigation in that direction as part of our psychic research project.

Our first responsibility is to maintain the privacy and confidence of those who seek our help. It is important to us that all members have respect for other’s property and beliefs.  We all adhere to a strict code of conduct during investigations. Although we wish to share our findings with the public on this website, we will not divulge names, locations, or any material that may lead to violating that privacy or respect, unless we receive written permission to do so from the person or persons involved.

Each member must sign a confidentiality agreement.

It is not important to us to prove to skeptics that ghosts exist or the vaildity of anyone's paranormal experience, we'll leave that to others.  It is  important to us to help those who live with paranormal experiences. Most occurrences have very common explanations, and finding these sources can bring great comfort to those dealing with events that they can not explain and are afraid to discuss with others. In cases where we have eliminated all else, we do our best to help the people living with these events in whichever way we feel will most benefit them.

Before An Investigation:

Before we meet with you we will instruct you on how to document events if applicable.

One or two of our investigators will then meet with you.

There is an extensive list of questions that we ask to help us know how to best proceed with an investigation.

We always obtain permission before conducting an investigation on private property.

Next, we will do as extensive an investigation as possible into the history and geography of the property or item involved in the occurrence.

During An Investigation

No smoking is allowed.

We always work with teams of at least two or more.

Members must at all times be respectful of others’ property and beliefs.
